The NSW Business Chamber has developed a manual handling training resource called ‘Manual Handling Toolbox Talks for Employers/Supervisors on behalf of Australian Business Industrial’.
According to the NSW Business Chamber, a third of all injuries in the wholesale sector and nearly a third of all injuries in the manufacturing sector in 2007/2008 were related to manual handling at a cost of $49m.
The organistion’s new resource will be available for free online at www.nswbc.com.au/safety from the end of June 2010. It was developed under a grant through the WorkCover Assist General Program and distributed to NSW Business Chamber members in the Manufacturing and Wholesale sectors.
The resource provides a structured format for employers to conduct information sessions to identify, assess, eliminate or manage manual handling risks in the workplace.
The resource can be tailored to most workplaces and is an easy to use resource to assist in finding solutions for manual handling hazards.
